Offset-D

are similar to the D karabiners, except the gate opening end is bigger
than the hinge side, allowing the gate to open more for ease to clip
things into the karabiner.

Oval
Karabiners - Climbing Equipment
Oval
Karabiners
are the cheapest and most basic because they are symmetric and can be
used for anything. The biggest disadvantage of using an oval karabiner
is that the load is equally shared with the gate side, which is the
weakest part of the karabiner. The advantage to the oval shape
karabiner is that its smooth radius allows for smooth repositioning of
the loads produced from climbing with aids.

Overlapping
Shingle Construction - sleeping bags
The
Overlapping Shingle Construction method is used by some sleeping bag
manufacturers, including The North Face. Similar to the shingles on the
roof of a house, insulation is overlapped rather than placing them
side-by-side in order to provide uniform loft, preventing insulation
from moving and alleviates cold spots forming in your sleeping
bag.
